WI PTA will award up to 2 (two) $1,000 Scholarships to high school students graduating from a PTA high school in good standing.
History: Emma Brookmire was an outstanding teacher and served as Field Secretary of the Wisconsin PTA. In 1948 a loan fund was created to honor Emma to help college students. In 1952, WI PTA created a scholarship for promising high school graduates in honor of Minette Hastings, a past President of both Wisconsin and National PTA. In 1967, the two funds were combined to form the Brookmire-Hastings Scholarship Fund.
The Scholarships are given to students that wish to pursue a career that benefits children in an educational setting. They are awarded at the annual convention of the WI PTA in April each year.
Funding for the scholarships comes mostly from donations. WI Alumni and Community PTA holds an annual silent auction at the WI PTA Convention, in memorial donations, and the Wall of Fame Stars that can be purchased to honor a teacher, administrator or a whole school. Visit our store to purchase Stars or make a directed donation. Information regarding applying for the scholarship is emailed directly to the schools or students that qualify.
